Lac Des Arc is about 15 minutes east of Canmore located just off of the Trans Canada Highway and across the river from Exshaw with an elevation of 1320 meters. Exshaw has a Lafarge cement plant, a Graymont limestone plant, and a Baymag Magnesium Oxide planet. It started as a summer community and now has a strong local tie in all of the Bow Valley. Many people love the area and some are targeting it as a preferred location as it has the quiet natural feel many are looking for in the Bow Valley.
